The
ACCION Network consists of some of the world’s most
established microfinance institutions. Together, these institutions
strive to develop the microfinance industry by exchanging ideas,
growing microfinance institutions and integrating the commercial
capital markets. The Network’s strength is truly in its members.
Why become a member of the ACCION Network?
- Obtain the support of the ACCION Network and Network members
to fulfill the mission and principles of the Network;
- Exchange experiences and best practices with other Network
members by participating in the annual conference, specialized
workshops, work groups, online discussions and other information
exchanges (see Network Events);
- Participate in training and professional on-site exchange visits
with other Network members;
- Receive free copies of all publications produced by ACCION,
including manuals, monographs and discussion documents (see ACCION’s
publications )
- Brand itself as part of the Network and use the Network’s
logos;
- Use ACCION’s specialized services such as its Capital
Market Department (including the Latin American Bridge Fund,
the Global Bridge Fund, Gateway and capital venture products,
investment and commercial banking) and benefit from any further
obligations ACCION has towards Network members;
- Obtain support from ACCION’s office in Washington D.C.;
- Pursue the Mission of the ACCION Network: Creating, growing
and leading microfinance.
- Demand that ACCION establish and control quality levels throughout
the Network.
Who can join the ACCION Network?
Institutions that share the principles stated in the Affiliation
Agreement below and the mission and vision of the ACCION Network
can apply for membership to the Network.

How to join the ACCION Network
In order to become a
member of the ACCION Network, a microfinance institution must
go through a stringent application process.
- A candidate MFI contacts ACCION to submit a formal request
explaining the reasons why it wants to be part of the Network.

- ACCION presents membership applications to the ACCION Network
for consideration.
- A selected Network member visits the candidate MFI to complete
an institutional evaluation. A report recommending why the
candidate should or should not become a member is written.
- The report is presented to the Network and an election
is conducted during the ACCION Network Directors’ Annual
Meeting. The MFI is accepted if it receives support from the
majority of members.
